I think it's boredom. People need to work, be productive, especially when young. When every day is the same, just like the day before and the day before that, people go stir-crazy and use drugs to have something more. Older people and people with money can be idle and can often find things to do to occupy themselves, like shopping and traveling, but the young need to work.
It's not German Neuling, Krokodil is a perfectly Russian word.
Leave it up to Russians to come up with something as "thrilling" as this drug.
The continuity of the Russian roulette...

Well at least crack is a derivative of a real drug, cocaine. Krok is a toxic sludge of gasoline and/or paint thinner & hydrochloric acid. But nobody is saying the US is any better, there are plenty of sick junkies that sniff glue, inhale paint & lysol, or inject themselves with whatever chemicals they can find. It's a pathetic life in any country
Why people have to take drugs for recreation is beyond crazy... they will always pay the price and I don't mean money.. there are NO BOUNDARIES to many people .. they will take any pill, inject any drug and some die.. they take the stuff without knowing what it is..
I wonder if any of these people have a brain to know what self preservation is? There is some very evil forces out there that rule many people.

The article posted earlier said it was invented in the U.S. What is different is people making it themselves and getting the formula wrong. They say it has a good use, but I find that hard to believe. We've got so many drugs now, did we really need to introduce this one?
Desomorphine (dihydrodesoxymorphine, Permonid, street name krokodil) is an opioid first patented in 1932 in the United States that is a derivative of morphine, where the 6-hydroxyl group has been removed and the 7,8 double bond has been reduced.[1] It has sedative and analgesic effects, and is around 8-10 times more potent than morphine.[2][3][4][5] It was used in Switzerland under the brand name Permonid[6] and was described as having a fast onset and a short duration of action, with relatively little nausea or respiratory depression compared to equivalent doses of morphine. If heroin was legal, or not so expensive, these people wouldn't resort to such desperate measures. Truly sad.
