Liberal emotion vs. Conservative logic - Page 1 - John Hawkins - Townhall Conservative

Quote:
It takes a lot more integrity, character, and courage to be a conservative than it does to be a liberal. That's because at its most basic level, liberalism is nothing more than childlike emotionalism applied to adult issues.
I don't think he is calling liberals children. He is just saying that we all must look at complex problems while considering complex solutions. Sometimes those solutions go against the desire to feel good. (The decision to go to war, for example).

Quote:
Now, that's not to say that conservatives never make emotion based arguments or that emotion based arguments are always wrong. But, when you try to deal with complex, real world issues, using little more than simplistic emotionalism that's primarily designed to make the people advocating it feel good rather than to deal with problems, it can, and often has had disastrous consequences. Liberals never seem to learn from this.
Feeling good is nice. But sometimes the hard decisions (like those currently being made by Gov. Chris Christie in New Jersey) must be made to fix a seemingly intractable problem.

Of course. If there weren't so much emotion in politics, we could team up as one and come up with solutions together. But because emotions run so high, we feel the need to distinguish ourselves from "the enemy" and thereby create the polarity we see in politics.

1. the douche said liberals are childlike and "emotional." meaning that they yell Christian curses at Hindu Invocationers in Senate hearings (Bawkman), they cry (Bahner), they yell "you lie!" at presidents (Bahner again, I believe), They shake their heads at President of opposite politics even though they are supposed to be neutral Judges, and other such "emotional" things that only Republicans do.
2. the complex solutions are only comming from liberals
3. the decision to go to war stems from the desire to feel good. war-hawks feel good when they go(correction -send other people-) to war.

the answer is actually more complicated than "end the political competition" as Republican's believe. Sometimes the hard decision is to RAISE TAXES!.

I'm not even going to bother giving that cite a single click of authority.

Does anything said by someone who is quoted from such a garbage source really mean anything? Perhaps the author or the article should put down the twinkies and hit the library. His own post shows he has no understanding of how people generally come to decisions.

First you say the complex solutions are only coming from liberals.

Then you say the "hard choice" is to raise taxes.

How is raising taxes yet again complex or hard?

Democrat politician:

Gee, I want my chief constituencies (union employees, government employees and people on SSI and other government "help for the poor" programs) to get more even more from the private sector producers. I think I'll make the revolutionary call to raise taxes!

Complex?

Difficult decision?

Please.

Both liberals and conservatives get over-emotional and biased, it just depends on what the letter is next to the president's name at the time.

Childish.

He seems to realize that problems are complex. Yet, the solutions he stands for don't consider the implications.

Does Emotion Cloud Political Analysis?
The short answer is yes.

Emotion clouds reason, perception, decision-making, throws all manner of wrenches into the clockwork of reason. In order for Reason to triumph once and for all, we would have to surrender our own humanity and become a hive-mind of cybernetic life forms. Ray Kurzweil can't wait for this to happen...
