America is absolutely awash with easily obtainable firearms. You can go down to a gun show at the local convention center and come away with a fully automatic assault rifle, without a background check, and most likely without having to show an identification card. So what are you waiting for?

Representative Mike Quigley introduced an amendment to the Patriot Act that would give the Attorney General the authority to block gun sales to individuals on terror watch lists. The amendment was voted down.

And rightfully so. Anyone of us can be put on that list for whatever reason they want. If this was to go through, they would just put people on that list to stop them from getting guns.

No problem with this as well. You don't get to deny people rights, because you put them on a list.

I think it would be prudent to ban weapons from law abiding folks so Al-Qaeda can continue to get them from shipping docks entering Mexican ports (equipped with the "happy switch" we don't get) and bring them up here.

Um, no one can buy a fully automatic, so called "assault rifle" at a gun show. Fully automatic weapons have been tightly regulated since 1934, and while not illegal to own in most states, the process of obtaining the necessary license is a major PITA.

Secondly, we have much more to fear from a government which wants to disarm it's citizens than we do from any terrorist organization.

An armed society is a free society.

Yeah, I noticed this too. About as informed of an individual as the Somalian libertarian vacation destination YT poster.

You picked up on that too? Hard to believe that Al Qauda instructors are as ignorant on US firearms laws as Media Matters bloggers, isn't it?

Like gun shows are the ONLY place terrorists can get arms.
And who is selling them the military weapons ? You can't get those at gun shows.

The propaganda machine..hard at work to change American thinking.
