This writer makes some excellent points. It is a mystery as to why liberals tolerate the most intolerant religion of them all while simultaneously denouncing harmless and progressive religions?
Liberals deride Christianity and Catholicism in particular for its strict approach towards sexuality, claiming that prohibitions against abortion, contraception, homosexual sex, and premarital sex are simply oppressive forms of prudish patriarchy. But Islam is every bit as traditional on these matters; indeed, Muslim nations are the best allies the Vatican has at the U.N. in fighting against funding for third-world family planning initiatives. You can't reasonably deride one while accepting the other.
Furthermore, Islam goes way beyond Christianity by embracing doctrines that actually are oppressive, demeaning to women, and tyrannical. Throughout the Middle East, there is widespread acceptance of polygamy, of giving adolescent girls in marriage, of female genital mutilation, of harsh criminal sanctions against fornication and homosexuality (a capital offense in some countries), all of which is done in accordance with interpretations of Sharia law that are accepted by significant percentages of the Muslim world.
While liberals rightly revile American polygamists, they fail to acknowledge that every major Muslim country (with the exception of Turkey and a few smaller countries) legally provides for this disgusting practice.
Six months after young, liberal activists helped lead the popular movement that ousted President Hosni Mubarak, the hard core of these protesters was forcibly dispersed by the troops. Some Egyptians lined the street to applaud the army. Others ganged up on the activists as they retreated from the square that has come to symbolize the Arab Spring.
"The liberal and leftist groups that were at the forefront of the revolution have lost touch with the Egyptian people," says Shadi Hamid, director of research at the Brookings Institution's Doha Center. "These protesters have alienated much of Egypt. For some time they've been deceiving themselves by saying that the silent majority is on their side—but all evidence points to the contrary, and Monday's events confirm that."
The world should be thanking Jumanah Imad Albahri, the Muslim Student Association student at the University of California San Diego who at a David Horowitz lecture May 10th, publicly voiced her outright support for terrorism by groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah. Thus showing once again the true face of anti-Israel activism on University campuses that vocally supports terrorism and active violence.
As universities around the globe wrap up for the summer, many students will leave unaware that the liberalism they claim to stand for is often quite false. Case in point: The Middle East Forum has reported that the Saudi government has spent $87 billion spreading radical Islam in the last decade. As a clear product of this activity, we have seen a frightening increase in campuses around the globe hosting "Israel Apartheid Week." More non-Muslim students have become active in these events in conjunction with the Muslim Student Association (MSA), the Pan-Arab radical Islam organization that is the derivation of these Saudi funds.
After what CNN, PBS, NPR, MSNBC and others in the liberal Left media did to besmirch the Right for the Boston bombings this looks like a good time for a bump.
There are million of Americans that do. Generally, uneducated, low IQ, middle aged to elderly, white bigots. GOP base voters or Tea baggers.
They don't have the intellect to understand complex issues so they are taken in by this right wing propaganda that appeals to their fears and bigotry.
I don't think people understand how stupid you must be to actually vote against your own family's well being, but here they are.
Still haven't told us what was untrue?
