Actually, I'm amazed at adoption of green technology by some of the poorest people in the world, and apparently, they have been using them for decades... people in rural India. There are cost friendly solutions to energy problem, visible to all but the mentally incompetent.

I believe what goes around, comes around, albeit possibly in a different shape and form. Why people think that fossil fuel is God's gift to humanity to last forever and in their best interests, is beyond me.

They can't impose but that doesn't mean some of those in government wouldn't willingly hand over this power. This has been the focus of these UN summits on the environment for the past few years which include negotiations of carbon caps on western nations and the transfer of wealth and tech to poorer nations.

As long as the GOP has any say this won't happen.

it solves every possible argument against it an the only thing it vents out is steam and over time as costs come down we could build them around world.

then we get back into the space race and move beyond earth then we become a type I civilization and if we want to contiue to grow by the billions in the next century we need another planet like mars to terraform and colonize

I agree that advanced technology like fusion or spaceflight can help privide humanity an escape from the trap it may find itself in. Unfortunately both are still glints in the minds eye and one of the reasons it may cost tens of trillions of dollars to bring a "green" world to fruitition. I am optimisitic it can be done because it is not "impossible". Also we are not alone there are millions of brains and hands and people with the good hearts to grasp the future and make it happen. Not everything has to make a buck. The world is more than the narrow minded executive suites found in the United States!

If I moved to the middle of 1000 acre ranch solar/wind might be the most cost effective, that doesn't make it the most cost effective for the masses overall.

You need to use what resources you have.

You use what you have. But that shouldn't prevent you from thinking about the future.

Heck, people are fighting their HOAs for metal roofs and solar panels.
Got to have that green front lawn cut just so high, etc.

We are our own worst enemies.

Rural folks are a lot more green than urban folks due to their location, lack of regulations, services, etc.
