Every party has their crazies... are you saying liberals/democrats dont? Yeah.. probably more crazies too. Seriously, pull up some videos from the "Bush protest" days...
Great thread title Rural Lady thanks. Rachel's show was an eye opener. Absolutely weird words coming from the mouths of these so called preachers. The strange idea of sex with a sun goddess was over the top.
Obama's church claimed that whites are to blame for everything..and all kinds of outlandish crap. He's your President now...
^ Really? Obama is out? The DNC just reported how many donations they recieved for the first Quarter of 2011. Their goal was $60 billion and they raised $85 billion! The RNC meanwhile raised $35 billion in the first Qiarter.
As for the GOP party aligning itself with religious fanatics? They have to appeal to their rightwing base. Just look at kooky Bachmann who is concerned about Gays, same sex marriage and pornography! We should racists to the equation as well.

The Republicans could run a Horse against Obama in 2012 and win... All polls.. even polls on MSNBC show Obama getting crushed in the next election, and his numbers will only go DOWN. Do you have any idea at all how many LIES Obama is going to have to answer to in this next campaign? Seriously, makes me laugh just thinking about how he's going to answer to his 08 campaign BS.
I'm a guy who over the years has voted GOP a lot more than I've voted Dem. But the loony religious right takeover of the Republican Party has turned me strongly and probably permanently against them.
In the past, I supported the formerly reasonable GOP when it stood for limited government, nonintervention internationally, and separation of church and statre. Since embracing the irrational religious kooks, they've abandoned all of those positions.
I doubt that I'm part of a tiny slice of former Republicnas who now see them as a dangerous caricature of a political organization. Their agenda is now harmful to my country and I will oppose them in every election.
