That's how far to the left the Democrats have moved. They've basically become a parody of themselves. I mean really, when you listen to Democrats on the floor of Congress, they sound more like television characters satirizing themselves than elected officials, and their supporters eat it up. This certainly isn't your father's Democrat Party.
Take for example the debt crisis. The Democrats keep telling us the sky is going to fall if they aren't allowed to raise taxes on the productive class. Why can't they at least be honest and admit they need more taxes in order to grow their voting base by paying people to vote for them?
Today's Democrats are so mentally deranged, psychotic, fanatical, rabid, and foaming-at-the-mouth, that they would refuse to nominate Karl Marx to run for office on the Democrat ticket. They would say he's a "right-wing fanatic". If anything, the Republicans would nominate Karl Marx considering how far left they've moved.
Karl Marx didn't think government was capable of bringing about change, but the people. So, why would he run for the government? That would make him more like your typical republican than a democrat.

Of course the Democrats wouldn't support Karl Marx. The Democratic Party is a capitalist, right-wing party.
