"We are letting some Wallstreet rating agency dictate our national interest and our national sovereignty?"

I said that very thing to my wife while I was yelling at the TV and the doomsday club was on the other day. **** on the credit ratings and tell China to eat our debt. They been screwing us for years playing their little currency games anyway. Like you say its gonna all crumble anyway so may as well get it over with. Guys like Madoff are sitting in jail for doing exactly what these crooks in DC are doing.

To blame one party over the other is wrong. They are all to blame for their self-righteous, self serving, egotistical behavior. Toddlers learn to share and compromise easier than these exalted leaders. As the world laughs, the USA goes down a notch.

I did move my investments out of equities for what that is worth. I will have paid off the mortage in a couple of years and have no credit card debt. I think that is a good way to start a retirement.

I am amazed a leftist like me can be such a fiscal conservative. Starting with "neither a borrower or a lender be." I read that somewhere and it sounded like a good idea. Now we have to apply it to both government and business. That would be interesting.

It's really sad we have a government of leaders that spend money they dont have, getting an entire nation into debt through wars, and fiscal irresponsibility and then they have the nerve to send the IRS after the same people at who's trough they feed. If I don't pay my credit card bills or my taxes I go to jail. I've ceased being mad at politicians.......I go off on all the stupid, uninformed, lazy, uneducated, zombie dumbasses we have walking around and voting these *******s into office. The politicians are just doing the stupid work of the American voting public. Maybe the "silent majority" Needs to pull their head out of their arse and wake up and become the vocal majority. I mean you've got illegal Mexicans that can rally in this country for their own interests......yet the middle class sits on their duff watching their country be pissed away. I don't get it! What is it going to take for the American middle class to wake up? OH let's vote these people out of office on election day! LOL Yeah right........VOTING DOESNT WORK! It's not the politicians that CONTROL our country. It's the bankers, it's the Wallstreet financiers...it's the SAME DAMN people everyone keeps paying lip service to. If the American people REALLY want to change this country they would sell off their 401ks, devest from WallStreet and let the entire casino crumble. Problem is we have all become so enslaved and so reliant on "wallstreet" and the "market" for all our economic prosperity we are like heroin addicts too scared to come off the junk. It's our reliance on Wallstreet and our "porfolios" and this nonsense of "investing" in the first place that has killed middle class power. The living wage has been replaced by the salary where workers work like dogs. The pension replaced by crappy 401ks and unions replaced by a college degree that guarantees nothing nowadays.

The GOP bailouts of Wall Street returned a profit to the taxpayers. Something else you were unaware of?

There isnt a chance I'm getting out in this market. The profit margins are huge. I have one position I stand to make 32% from in the next 22 days.

pgh - I do not want to play in the market and never did. The market was the only place I could put long term savings where it would grow faster than inflation.

I agree with socal that the entire US financial system is an elaborate fraud fed by easy commercial credit with very little actual value. The big crash is yet to come and will be way too big to bail out with government funds.

Yeah and those same companies you are investing in are shipping jobs overseas, polluting the environment, using illegal labor, putting politicians into office that don't care about the nation as a whole or its future........you might be making money in the "market" but you're also being bent over by the same racket you are making your money in. People like you really dont get it do you? You have tunnel vision.

You know that scene in GoodWill Hunting where Matt Damon tells the NSA why he doesn't wanna work for them? Well let's take Dunkin Donuts for example. For every dollar you make investing in that company you will probably pay $2 in taxes supporting all the unhealthy lazy out of work Americans that keep stuffing their face with donuts. See my point? Or let's say you go invest in a company like BP that wreaks havoc on the environment. For every dollar you make with that investment you will pay $5 in taxes etc. cleaning up their environmental damage they cause everywhere they go.

How do you figure? "GOP Bailouts" were more than just TARP, by the way.

Nobody is taught any of this in school. Hell they don't even teach kids how to balance a checkbook. Most just sit back and watch the nightly news and that's it. Pay their taxes and ***** about the neigbors dogs barking. Then go in and vote party line because their parents voted that way or just stay home. The only thing that will wake folks up is when a tank is pointing at their front door and they're taken off to a slave camp to work for the government. Then you see the greedy folks who are shocked that Madoff ripped em off and the sob stories but they weren't crying when the payouts were coming in that's for sure and that is exactly what's happening. It takes one generation of idiots to wreck it all and we're there. People are more worked up if some gay folks can get married or not. It is quite astounding. Ammo up because it's coming no if but when.
