More participation, more $$$$ to offset operational costs. Plain and simple.

I've never paid an admission fee to go into a National Park. I also can not recall seeing any marketing geared at driving me to go to a park. The ones I have been to have been mostly school field trips and then me taking action on my own by taking my son because I wanted him to experience them.

The bulk of the parks in Mass have nothing to do with nature.

Yip. Where I live (country in the Caribbean ) the term used to describe black people is negro. Some people actually will get offended if you call them black as they believe this is insulting since their skin is not black in colour. Yea the Caribbean is rife with colour hangups..

Also income plays a large part, most of us are paying big moneyto stay out of the ghetto so that usually leaves nothing left to even take a vacation.

And the parks just isn't cool to the youth, they take a vacation and end up in a island with well built men with six pack abs not sight seeing and looking at bears and lions.

This article is just race baiting and I'm black.

Black people are paying big money to stay out of the ghetto?

I have black neighbors two doors down. My neighborhood is not the ghetto. Are they paying more than me to live there?

But to kids being a scout is sometimes the event that makes them become interested in nature for the first time. They roam through the woods, sleep in tents, and what not.

Interesting. Thank you. I was never a scout either. It was practically nonexistent in my area.

If it helps, I saw two black Scouts a couple of weeks ago.
