I just heard an absolutely moronic "news" story on one of the big three about milk prices. Their big story claims the big jump in milk prices is due to increased demand. I have been watching corn futures ever since my state politicians have taken to the stump, passing legislation to force the use of ethanol in all gasoline sold. Now that the lovely politicians have taken on this little green scheme to keep all the huggers happy, corn production in the U.S.A. is at an all time high since the end of WW2. Go figure. Corn in Iowa sold for June delivery in 2006 averaged $1.96. Corn for June 2007 averaged $3.55 per bushel. Go figure. Corn is up because of ethanol manufacture. What do cows eat? Corn. Chickens? Corn. Hogs? Corn. Amongst the midst of the frustration of the oil prices, our lovely politicians pass more laws requiring the use of a food staple to supplement oil use and nobody had the foresight to see what would happen? Oh, sure enough, there was another story about it affecting the world supply. The good old USA will take it on the chin again. Enough is enough already.
