Jerry Lewis dumped
His telethon is going to be a webathon.... proving the media is a monopoly

Comedy club announces Jerry Lewis Award Webathon AP

Comedians who think Jerry Lewis was unceremoniously dumped from his post as chairman of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and face of its annual telethon are holding a Web-athon of their own.
Laugh Factory owner Jamie Masada said his club will hold a fundraiser on Monday featuring comedians such as Norm Crosby and Dave Chappelle. Fans can watch the performances online and make donations.

Great! Thanks for the info. I wil donate to Jerry's Kids that way. I can never tune into the Telethon knowing that Lewis is not at the helm. More generic crap from the mainstream media.

Do you know what monopoly means? Judging from the context of your post--you don't!

Today the media is mostly owned and controlled by a half dozen or so megacorporations. These few giant corporations carefully control the narrow range of allowable information, dialogue, and debate in our "free society." This monopoly of the flow of information is in direct conflict with our Constitutional Rights.
Media Democracy Legal Project :: End Media Monopoly:: Public Airwaves=Democratic Media

Further, wouldn't a monopoly mean only one megacorporation owned all of the media?

Monopoly: The exclusive possession or control of the supply or trade in a commodity or service.

I noticed in reading an article this morning about this that nigel lythcoe (sp) is at the helm of the telethon now. I don't know how deep he is into this telethon or how he got involved (it didn't say) but I do find it concerning the he, piers morgan, simon cowell, sharon osborne are now on air here in the US running telethons and the "talent" shows. Can't quite put my finger on it but something is wrong with this picture.
