Executed or life imprisonment. Not sure why there should be any celebrating going on. It's not like a "stay of execution" will absolve him of the guilty verdict. He's destined to die in prison either way unless evidence leads the lower courts to reconsider the sentencing phase....which is not likely given the trial history. Again, not sure why anyone is celebrating.
I don't understand why they can't just give him life in prison if he's guilty.
Dead people can't file lawsuits or ruin the careers of corrupt cops and prosecutors. If he is innocent, that is a powerful incentive for the same people that convicted him to make sure he is never allowed to tell his tale.
This further highlights how easy it is to execute an innocent man. Even with worldwide attention he barely escaped death, many others have not been so lucky.

He hasn't escaped execution yet; this is a delay, not a true stay at this point.

Innocent? Bullfeathers! The man shot and killed two innocent people in public in a busy Burger King parking lot. Plenty of witnesses at the time. There is no question about his guilt.
I'm glad he got a stay. I'm not opposed to the death penalty, but this one was just too fishy. Seven out of nine of the witnesses recanted? One of the witnesses who didn't recant is believed to be the guy who actually did it by many.

I would celebrate for America if we opted not to execute a person who very well may be innocent.
