Election cycle politics. Obama is trying to look tough on crime, just like all spineless politicians when it comes time to beg for votes. The calculation is that left leaning people aren't going to vote GOP anyway so if cracking down on medical marijuana gets a few moderates off the fence and convinces them to mark the ballot for Obama and the Dems, then the operation will be deemed a success.

This is the kind of crap that is sending our country down the tubes. We need a viable third party alternative, it is time to get rid of all the Republicans and Democrats and start over with people that value principles over short term political gains.

That is the one thing that the Occupy Wall Street groups and the early non-GOP branded Tea Party have in common, a disgust for the normal Team Blue vs. Team Red illusion of choice. Is it really a choice when you are only allowed to pick from two equally corrupt pols that are both wholly owned tools of their respective corporate masters?

Really stupid of him. Some on the Left might not vote for the GOP, but they will certainly be disgusted enough with obama that they will stay home.

I would love to see State Troopers, county Sheriff's and local cops, throwing the FBI right out of the State.

So would I, but predictably, all the leading California Democrats, including Gov. Brown, have remained silent. Sort of like the way Obama supporters have stayed away from this thread..

Not just this thread....but really, do you want them in here making excuses for this action?

He's going to enforce THIS federal law, but ignore others, like illegal immigration and DOMA. Really just outrageous for a supposed constitutional lawyer.

Well, I would like to hear from the Obama supporters who claim to be liberals on just how they can justify these actions..

The DOJ has sent letters to, as far as I can tell, almost all the 16 states where MM is legal. Threatening them with prosecution of state employees, dispensary property seizures and the like. In my state of Washington Gregoire caved, vetoing most of the MM bill. Similar thing with Chafee in RI. Only Chris Christie in NJ basically told Obama to shove it..

I know their actions are dictated by party labels, but I never thought I'd see the day when I would favor a Republican's position, excluding Ron Paul of course, over that of a Democrat when it comes to something like pot..
