I think smoking is maligned unfairly. It's the current evil of society. I wish people wouldn't be so hypocritical about cigarette smoke & their own health.
I wish people would get just as verbal and blatantly hostile about alcohol usage.

Alcohol usage doesn't hurt other people even when used in moderation. There's no doubt that alcohol can be a serious issue - drunk driving (and I will ALWAYS advocate for harsher drunk driving punishments compared to the current slap on the wrist), irresponsible behaviors at home, and general health issues. That said, your nightly glass of wine isn't going to hurt the people around you.
Some are treated unfairly because other smokers treat non-smokers unfairly.
I personally despise smoking. The disgusting smell, and its effects on my asthma. But if more smokers were a little more decent in their approach to smoking then maybe non-smokers wouldn't fuel so much disdain towards smoking. It's legal, so as a non-smoker I can't say much.
There is a lot of nonsense out there about the effects of "second hand smoke". There are studies that have no basis for their claims. But you need common sense to be able to recognize it.
What's a smoker to do? The government wants to ban vaporizers. Health plans do not cover smoking cessation products. My attempts to quit have been fruitless so far.
Denying the effects of second hand smoke is just trying to rationalize away the harm your smoking can do to others. The danger of second hand smoke is very real.
If you are not buying cigarettes you can spend that money on something to help you stop smoking. If you quit altogether, you have $93 per week to spend on something else, while you and those you now subject to your secondhand smoke enjoy better health.
Common sense should tell you it's cheaper not to smoke at all. Keep trying to quit.

I'm with you. I cannot stand the odor, having it hang in the air and also have asthma. I resent having to walk through it outside, having it somehow enter my apartment or be unable to open windows for fresh air.
I have experienced them having a defensive attitude or that others "should just put up with it". Another thing, what is it with them feeling free to litter everywhere with their butts, the ground being their ashtray?
A lot of Americans think marijuana should be legalized but cigarettes should be restricted or banned, weird.
Most people who smoke pot don't smoke 60 joints a day, and there is some medical benefits from it. There are no medical benefits from smoking, especially 40-60 cigarettes a day.

Cigarettes can reduce stress and depression , which is proven (although the effect is temporary).
Few smokers smoke 60 a day. Most below 6.
Pot is banned in 90% countries in the world for good reasons.
