And what would you have happen to all the newly unemployed military families? Your president is more intent on getting jobs to foreigners coming here than to Americans.
They certainly can't turn to the truck driving jobs now that Obama has ensured they will go to much cheaper foreign drivers.
I am not suggesting that we cut the full time military. That certainly would not help our economy. However, we certainly should cut the amount of money we were using to build Iraq's infrastructure with contractors like Haliburton.
The conservatives are all about cutting spending. One thing that can be cut January 1 is the defense budget. So I would expect a bill coming from the Republicans to cut the defense budget.
I believe Rick Santorum spoke for the GOP establishment when he said he would "not cut 1 penny from the defense budget." Sadly these people are deluded into thinking that we need to spend hundreds upon hundreds of billions of dollars a year to be safe. When in reality if we would stop meddling in everyone's business we would be safer and spend a lot less. But that idea is "crazy."

How much money would be saved by forcing our President to govern within Constitutional restraint and refrain from bombing sovereign nations without Congressional approval?
22% of the budget goes to the military. 70% goes to social security, medicare, medicaid, SSI, food stamps, housing assistance, community development, schools/college students, welfare.
22% being spent for a U.S. Constitution mandate but liberals whinning that it is too much. Let's cut that amount so we can give it to 'solyndra' projects.
Well we're now in Uganda (100 combat troops sent) and Syria is having problems.
I wager we'll just pick a new country to invade than cut the budget.
This scenario seems much more likely. The defense contractors aren't going to sit by and lose their big money contracts. We will simply find another way to spend the money.

You guys keep forgetting that congress has the power of the purse. No money no bombs.
Why is that you guys just can't answer the question. It is fairly simple. Are you in favor of cutting the defense budget now that we are out of Iraq.

That is why I say cut the budget. Do you not agree?

I too was thinking the same exact thing. What will become of the many many unemployed military families. We have already many unemployed families who are not military families, what will become of all these unemployed families. Better yet, will Obama have jobs ready for these unemployed militarty families!
What about those who have been looking for jobs for over 2 years now, will he have jobs for them too.

Like I said. I think they should not look to cutting in a military personnel. Just let that happen through attrition. However, we have to be saving money from not building Iraqs infrastructure. How about we cut the amount that we will no longer be spending.
Really. No takers. Not one person who agrees we should cut military spending. What about the party of small govt.?

I'm forgetting nothing. Congress is as guilty as the Executive Branch for allowing illegal participation in foreign conflicts. Nowhere in my post did I suggest Congress should be given a free pass.
As far as the defense budget goes I'm in favor of replenishing the munitions and supplies that have been expended in the last 10yrs of poorly managed conflicts while refraining from future attempts at nation building.
Is there a reason you opted to skirt the issue of the President involving our military in unconstitutional conflicts? Bombs cost money regardless of the letter following the President's name.
