I rarely post on abortion threads, because I figure what is the point. People are so polarized and there isn't much room for compromise. So the question has anyone on this board ever changed their mind on the issue because of information they received or life experience etc.
Neither for nor against. But I am against public funds paying for it. An option I would live with is make the recipient pay back the costs. Call it a low interest loan and that includes the sperm donar.
I was pro choice and now I'm against abortion. I think I changed my position on it when I learned about how the very idea is discriminitive towards men in general.
No. I was raised in a right wing pro-life household. When I became a Christian as a teenager, that position stayed the same. And even though I now consider myself liberal, I'm still pro-life. Most liberals will strongly disagree with me on this, but here's the way I see it: Liberals, of all people are supposed to be known for protecting the weakest and most innocent in society. And you can't get much weaker or vulnerable, or innocent than an unborn kid.
Not looking for an argument here, and I won't respond to any arguments here. I'm just giving my opinion.

You mean because the biological father has no say?

Yup, but should the mother decide to have the child, according to the law the man must pay. He has no "choice" in aborting his right to be a parent as a woman does.

I can agree with the arguments for and against abortion.

Signed,
A pro-life liberal
From one liberal to another. I can respect that. Before my first child was born, I was more I don't care than anything else, now I am torn.

My husband is an only child and I say this b/c he was never around large families much. His family was very quiet, nice but just kept to themselves.
Anyway, he was very pro choice, more liberal than he is now. We were married October 25th - the following July 26th, we had our first child (not planned right away but a nice surprise - a daughter) - well, having a child really changed him.
He found he loved children. He became pro-life and while he would impose his judgment on anyone, for him, he is pro-life in his own life. What he experienced having children has been so positive for US.
It has made us better people, more caring. We both pretty work oriented and it has softened us.
