And the kicker to this is that people will end up spending like 2,000 dollars on this "good deal" stuff. Yep I had a customer who did that one year, and others not far behind. It's pretty comical to be there later in the day if you have that option though; the Customer Service line is full of people bringing big TVs back. I guess the compulsory shopping spell has passed.

I thought so too. It's not like they aren't off on Saturdays. Not sure about Veterans Day but at least most are off on Saturdays. I also tend to think people who shop on the Holiday don't have any family are looking for deals for themselves, even when they aren't really deals.
