So you do understand that it is the republicans that passed civil rights act and the democrats tried to stop it
Republicans with the help of northern democrats who were much more liberal than their right wing brethren in the South. Then the southern democrats became either Republicans or part of the blue dog coalition. You do know parties switched ideologies midway through the 20th century right? Why do people on the right have to constantly be reminded of this. Being a democrat then was different from being a democrat 60 years ago. The same goes for Republicans.
Note to Democrats and Liberals: Not all Republicans, Conservatives, Libertarians, and those independents who lean to the Right on most issues (like me), are "brainwashed" by right-wing Talk Radio (like John and Ken) and get ALL our info (or misinformation, as some of you call it), from them! We don't get "marching orders" and "talking points" from Rush Limbaugh and we don't all always walk lock-step with the Republican party and platform. See here: Welcome to Facebook - Log In, Sign Up or Learn More . We do conduct our own independent, in-depth research-we simply have different ideaological views on the role and scope of government and how that affects the economy. For myself, I have my own views and thoughts ( Welcome to Facebook - Log In, Sign Up or Learn More ) , THEN I seek out a pundit, like John and Ken, or Sean Hannity, etc...who might share them, for media representation....not the other way around. Please stop stereotyping, generalizing and insulting us. Thank you.
Note to Republicans and Conservatives: Not all Democrats, Progressives, Liberals, and those independents who lean to the Left on most issues (like me), are "Kool-aid drinkers" worshiping President Obama like a Messiah and getting ALL our info (or misinformation, as some of you call it), from him! We don't get "marching orders" and "talking points" from Chris Mathews or Rachal Maddow and we don't all always walk lock-step with the Democratic party and platform. We are not Communists or Marxists for wanting to take care of the less fortunate in society, or wanting Corporations and Billionaires to pay their fair share of taxes and not get special favors from Government. We do conduct our own independent, in-depth research-we simply have different ideological views on the role and scope of government and how that affects the economy. For myself, I have my own views and thoughts and have no desire to find a tv talking head to speak at me only in the words I like or agree with, I've never longed for media representation.... Please stop stereotyping, generalizing and insulting us. Thank you.

I don't think that.

/haɪˈpɜrbəli/ Show Spelled[hahy-pur-buh-lee] Show IPA noun Rhetoric . 1. obvious and intentional exaggeration.
2. an extravagant statement or figure of speech not intended to be taken literally, as “to wait an eternity.”
...And as a reaction to those who say the same thing about me and Right-wing pundits. What is good for the goose is good for the gander!!
We are not Communists or Marxists for wanting to take care of the less fortunate in society, or wanting Corporations and Billionaires to pay their fair share of taxes and not get special favors from Government.

The actions and words of most Liberals show otherwise, but maybe not you, ok...

Very true.

I don't always agree with the pundits I listen to and watch. Indeed, I do so precisely to see what they are saying to find out if I agree with them or not. When I do agree with them, they give me a voice, I can live vicariously through them since I don't have a tv or radio show. I can have "media representaion," and my world views have a "bully pulpit". Sometimes I applaud, "Go Rush!!" And sometimes I say to myself, "Oh, Rush. You're wrong there..." For example, I agree he does love to blame everything on Democrats and Liberals. If a comet struck and destroyed half the earth, that would be Obama's fault too (it happened on his watch, didn't it? Lol)!! Same thing with the rest of my pundits that gives my opinions a voice and public forum.
Now, I do use hyperbole alot, an exaggeration devised to excite a reaction. A lot of my words are just that, hyperbole, my true opinions guised by exaggerations and controversy in order to keep the discussion lively. Take my "know thy enemy" comment in this thread. One poster threw a hissy-fit over it. I used the word "enemy" as an exaggeration to prove the dichotomy between myself and those that lean more to the Left. That one poster was not smart enough to perceive the sarcasm.
