So now that Thanksgiving is over, when will the War on Christmas 2011 begin?
Dec. 26, 2010.
Well the really serious attacks will begin any day now, but I agree with you that atheists and other anti-Christians have been at it at least that long.
I guess the attacks are coming but know what? Millions upon millions in our country will celebrate yet another birthday of Jesus Christ this year. Granted, some of the attacks on this holiday may succeed but no attack on the recipient of the birthday wishes will ever prosper.
They will begin on Black Friday....which I guess is officially right now.
The fact of the matter is, December 25th is a celebration of Jesus' birth for some people. Not everyone has to agree with that nor does everyone have to celebrate it but to try to deny it exists is as stupid as trying to deny any other holiday exists for any religion.
I don't celebrate Hanukkah but I don't get all bent out of shape when Jews celebrate.
I don't celebrate Kwanzaa but I don't get all offended when some African Americans do.
That tree with lights on it? That's called a "Christmas tree". Those people who go from door to door singing carols, those are called, "Christmas carolers". That celebration that happens on December 25th, that is called "Christmas".
Does Yom Kippur cease to exist simply because some don't celebrate it? No.
People need to get over themselves. They sit and demand that everyone do it their way without realizing the hypocrisy of their demands.
What about the more successful War on Rosh ha Shannah?
I know, it's been tough... I had to replace my apples & honey with oranges & marmalade, just to be "non-holiday specific." Next thing you know, they'll be coming after Tu B'Shevat!! LOL

I think you're missing the joke, which is an ongoing one here on CD (and around the whole country, it seems). The joke being that there is no War on Christmas... and people who claim there is are usually just Christmas Nazis, who get their panties in a wad over seeing a "Happy Holidays" sign. I'm Jewish and don't care about Christmas, nor do most of the non-Christians in the world. Get over yourselves is more appropriately directed at people like YOU, who think anyone who opts for Happy Holidays instead is somehow attacking your beliefs. I mean, really?
And that's ALL I'm saying about the topic this year - I swear!
Well the War on Christmas can have 2 definitions. The first is people/Christians are fed up with the over commercialization of Christmas and want to tone it down. That view was probably held by the Puritans. Keep it a holy day.
The other definition is people are fed up with changing the reason for the season to mean only Santa Claus and gifts forgetting why we even have a day called Christmas. A day that has been celebrated for hundreds of years before anyone ever heard of Santa.
