If there was a leader currently in the White House this
would not be an issue or a topic on C/D

Again, and you would have loose nukes.

Its the same reason we gave Russia a butt load of money, to protect their arsenal from the wrong hands.

The government might fall, but nuclear weapons are a physical thing with fairly simple instructions to follow. Its easy to find suicide bombers, put one in a truck, drive to within a mile of the whitehouse and congress, punch in a code, and boom, no more Washington.

Its the reason they get money, and its the reason they get away with murder.

This really has nothing to do with Obama. The situation in Pakistan and Afghanistan would be the same no matter who was in office, save Ron Paul. If you don't like our current policy, you have one choice ... Paul. Every single other candidate would handle things pretty much exactly like Obama has been with minor differences here and there.

As ye sow, so shall yea reap? I think we should declare this as unfixable and leave.

Unfortunately if we stop borrowing and spending the billions per month required by our Military for this war our domestic economy will lose a huge number of well paying jobs and, without the lending, many banks will also fail. The problem with an economy operating on debt financed military spending is it is an addiction and the withdrawal symptoms are horrendous. Avoiding these symptoms is why we have been at war one place of another since WW2. We can no longer afford to continue this waste and should use this economic effort to improve our own country.

We should also leave most of the rest of our overseas bases. Let the rest of the world pay for protecting their property. We cannot afford to continue this wasteful effort.

Only the most clueless would attribute the Pakistani debacle to present day. Trust me, Pakistan became a part of dysfunctional family that the US government worked for, a long long long time before today. Go back to (at least) Nixon, if you must blame the White House.

So our choices are limited. The Pakistani government puts on this dog and pony show with America. "Bad Americans" and we say "Bad Pakistanis"

And within a month it'll be right back to the way it was.

They knew about this raid, just like they knew about the Bin Laden raid.
Politics of Fear is so 2003.

So we give them bribes while they cut off helping us. Does not work that way. if we bribe them they do not cut off our bases and troops

We were giving them bribes, and equipping them militarily against India. Now, we're merely scrambling to pay for that idiocy from the past.

Memphis, you are correct. Pakistan didn't know about the bin Laden raid, however. That came as a real blow to them. It signaled to their government, military and the Pakistani people that the U.S. can slip over the border, conduct military operations and leave. In the case of the raid, the Pakistani military didn't even know we were there until it was over.

Since then, they have become increasingly concerned about us. I think they think we're going to steal their nukes. They have been moving them around the country to hide them from us. The only thing worse than thinking about a bunch of nukes in a country with a lot of Islamic extremist militants is thinking about those nukes rolling around on the roads. How long does it take for someone to figure out what's being transferred and to highjack the convoy?

We have to keep going the same way we're going with Pakistan. We need them to cooperate with us against the Taliban. Otherwise, we fight the Taliban, they slip over the border and dissappear. We can't chase them into Pakistan -- it would be a violation of thier soveriegnty -- so ideally, the Pakistani Army would kill them for us on their side of the border. Also, our resupply routes run through Pakistan. We need to keep those open.
