I split those on unemployment into two basic groups:
Those with careers want to get back to work ASAP because staying empoyed is important to their careers.
Those with (sucky) "jobs" would rather sit on their rear and collect free cash.
There is certainly a third sector, those with jobs that continually end up on unemployment. It's common in the construction industry to be laid off a few months a year.
The Dems want to extend UE benefits even longer. If you cant find a job in 99 weeks you simply do not want one as the article shows.
Agreed. This is almost two years of benefits. Are people actually trying to say, with a straight face, that they can't find ANY job in two years? B! S!
My suggestion is you roll over to our unemployment forum. Statistically there are STILL 5 people for every 1 job available. I lost my job and profession as a real estate title examiner on 5/30/08, I was close to 58 years old, I wasn't worried, I have up to date computer skills, can type, I have a medical and legal background - a good fit for many jobs...NOT. I did EVERYTHING to find work, job fairs, networking etc. and finally on 6/16/11 I got a job at now nearly 61 years of age, it's at a hospital doing patient sitting, it offers no guarenteed hours, no benefits my last paycheck was $0. because there were no patients to sit with. During my time off, I did lots of research on what I could go back to school for to get a job and found in my area phlebotomists were a good paying steady work and often advertised, I even took the time to call several hospital labs and HR's to make sure they are hiring....so with the last of my own savings I took a phlebotomy course, passed a national certification test - got a few interviews but NO job. I then finally realized that I was facing age discrimination, I can't tell you how many times that has happened over the last few years and it's very very frustrating. At my age there are some jobs I'm no longer capable of doing due to physical issues. Again I suggest you go to the CD unemployment forum and see how many struggle every day looking for work. We are not lazy bums as you seem to think, we work hard every day looking for work.
