What Gulf are you talking about, the Gulf of Mexico? If so they are out of work because Obama killed the jobs after the oil spill.

It's not about punishing success, it's about reducing the deficit. It's simple math.

They just didn't want to take taxes from one group and give them to another group.

PS. The Tea Party also stopped the ban on incandescent light bulbs. Americans can now see how getting Obama out of office will bring sensibility back to our country.
In other words, only a fool would agree with the tea party.

At least that's what I got from your post.

I didn't realize in America we had the Republican, Democratic and Tea Party political parties.

This is really a diversion from the glaring reality that the Republicans have not had any ideas to benefit all but the most privileged, 11 straight years and running. Congress has been severely broken since the 2010 elections, so for you to hang your hat on the ridiculous decisions that come out of this Republican/tea party-cursed Congress is absolutely inexcusable.

Way to eliminate yourself from serious consideration in future discussions.

Obama's willingness to compromise on this is one reason why Obama is likely getting my vote. Compromise is a virtue not a failure in my book. I am sick and tired of politicians taking sides and not working together for the good of the country. Republicans can have good ideas as well as bad ones. The incandescent ban was just dumb - smart people went to CFLs long ago anyway - and the pipeline has been studied for three years. Nebraska is fighting it over aquifer pollution fears that are not substantiated to date. The administration needs to decide and quit dragging things out. Republicans had to give up a bunch of tea party/social nonsense in the deal. I love pragmatism when I see it and will reward it with my support. Go O!
