Not sure how a representative republic = dictatorship.
And I'm sure slavery was "just" to many people as well. Doesn't make it right.
I live my own life and don't have the time or the inclination to worry about what two men or two women are doing in their own personal life. Whether they are married or not does not affect my day-to-day responsibilities. I'm not so sure why so many people are so concerned with what other people do.
And spare the "sanctity of marriage" BS. Heteros, bible thumpers, conservatives, and liberals have done enough damage.
Appreciate your input but well-being of children is everybody's business.
The fundamental Christian bible thumpers are more concerned with how YOU are living than how THEY are living.
"fundamental Christian bible thumpers"? Do you think only fundamental bible thumpers are concerned here?
What about the non-religious opposing gay marriage? What about Muslims or Hindus?
Even the militanlty atheist countries like China or Cuba do not allow gay marriage...
Trying to make gay marriage into a Christians vs. the "rest of the world" issue? LOL Nice try. But not, this is not the case.
Nevertheless as far from the "Christian right" as you can get and still no "gay marriage" or even gay rights.
You can't make it a "Christian right" issue because it is not.
There is a lot of people opposing gay marriage and adoption from many different walks of life, religions and ethnic backgrounds.
First we do not live in a democracy, we live in a representative republic where the leaders are voted in democratically.
Secondly, was the abolition of slavery put on the ballot? Would it have passed? Sometimes we do the right thing, not because it's popular, but because it is just.
Thank you.

My morals are based on what I interpret from the Bible.
Then why do I not see any of you so-called Christians protesting against psychics, people who remarry, people who work on the Sabbath, atheists, and followers of other religions having the legal right to marry and adopt? As I said, your prejudice is obvious. People want to hinder the legal rights of homosexuals purely because they don't like them; it's just that simple.

As I just finished saying, the evidence suggests the children who are raised by gay parents turn out just as well if not better than children raised by heterosexuals. The idea that there is any more risk in letting homosexuals adopt than there is in letting heterosexuals adopt is unfounded and made up by a biased mind.

Gays have probably always wanted to change it. But they had to wait for the powers that be to grow brains. And it's finally begun!

I don't find this evidence to be conclusive and warrant such drastic changes to thousand years old tradition of our civilization.
