They've sold out every game since 1981 - they seem to jive quite fine with the demographics of the city.

Lights? Who needs lights? Seems we're still winning, 6-0 as of now...

Touche! I used to live in that neighborhood, and judging by the masses of (very enthusiastic) people on game days, it seems to jive just fine.

Btw, the announcer just referred to the outages as "an embarrassing day for San Francisco." Meh, I don't feel all that embarrassed... stuff happens, and I'm sure it wasn't due to a late bill payment.

This is exactly true.

One could presume as much about basketball in Salt Lake City....if they didn't know any better.

I doubt the 49ers depend solely on their residents that live within the city limits for their fan base. But then, i can't think of a single American sports franchise that does.

That said, there is something special about having a ballpark inside of a city (where they belong) as opposed to the suburbs (where they clearly don't). Thankfully only one of my teams is left in the burbs, and i'm hoping like hell that they come back one day.

I felt vindicated when he said that.

Candlestick is a beautiful park with a rich history, but the reality is that it's OLD. It also sits on one of the windiest, not to mention earthquake-prone, spots in San Francisco - probably explains the power outages, as it is the middle of December right now. One of my immediate family members works for the team (sr management level), and is at the game right now... I was hoping to be there too, but unfortunately didn't secure my seats in time. GO NINERS!!!!!
My God is that lame! Santa Clara? Hell, i'd never go to a sporting event that far out. The new stadium should've been right where the old one is.

That's as bad as when my beloved Lions played out in Pontiac. I simply refused to go. Pathetic to have a stadium out in the middle of some field in the sticks. It's a sad sight.

But oh well...not my team.
