If you review the post I referenced, you will note that the poster stated that Europeans were jealous of the US.
I find it laughable.

I suggest that you reread my post and the one I responded to before you make silly posts.

"Truly sucks" is an understatement. How the average American can turn on the radio these days without barfing after the first two minutes goes completely over my head. It's never been this bad.

It depends on the radio station. I listen to jazz and classic rock stations and haven't wanted to barf so far.

The average American aint tuning in to the jazz and classic rock stations. They're tuning in to the Lady Gaga and other assorted idiots station.

Please...let's not act like you didn't know this.

Of course I'm aware of that but I thought we we were talking about American culture in general.

We are. The "Lady Gaga and other assorted idiots station" IS American culture in general!

Wynton Marsalis, Edgar Allen Poe and James Van Der Zee are the aberrations.

Then why does the rest of the civilized world worship it? You may not like it, but American culture is the trend setter.

Huh? Have you ever traveled? Most Europeans just think we're loud and crude, and I hate to say it, but I've seen plenty of American tourists who do their best to earn that reputation for the rest of us. Europeans aren't jealous--I promise you that. They just think we're vulgar.

We have lots of great things though--we're self confident, enthusiastic, inventive and optimistic. Until recently, we were one of the few places in the world where tomorrow really could be better if you just worked hard and had a little luck. We don't have a rigid social class structure--that's huge. I love to travel, and I've been lucky enough to do a lot of it, but I also love being American.
