I take you are not aware of the history of the program.
I take it you failed to see that this bunch changed the name of the operation but went on, Now is there a chance that you can understand that it is the present DOJ who is doing all the lying? Surely you can see that it is not Bush or his DOJ who is doing the lying these days about the operation.
Surely you can see that they expanded it quite a bit when they took over.
Campaigning for the Senate in 1994, Romney said he favored strong gun laws and did not “line up with the NRA.” He signed up for “lifetime membership” of the NRA in August 2006 while pondering a presidential run, praising the group for “doing good things” and “supporting the right to bear arms.” Source: GovWatch on 2008 campaign: “Top Ten Flip-Flops” , Feb 5, 2008
Support the 2nd Amendment AND the assault weapon ban
I would have signed the assault weapon ban that came to his desk. I said I would have supported that and signed a similar bill in our state. It was a bill worked out, by the way, between pro-gun lobby and anti-gun lobby individuals. Both sides of the issue came together and found a way to provide relaxation in licensing requirements and allow more people to--to have guns for their own legal purposes. So we signed that in Massachusetts, and I’d support that at the federal level. It did not pass at the federal level. I do not believe we need new legislation. I do not support any new legislation of an assault weapon ban nature, including that against semiautomatic weapons. We have laws in place that, if they’re implemented & enforced, will provide the protection and the safety of the American people. I do support the right of individuals to bear arms, whether for hunting purposes or for protection purposes or any other reasons. That’s the right that people have

I support the work of the NRA, but disagree sometimes
We should check on the backgrounds of people who are trying to purchase guns. We also should keep weapons of unusual lethality from being on the street. And finally, we should go after people who use guns in the commission of crimes or illegally, but we should not interfere with the right of law-abiding citizens to own guns, for their own personal protection or hunting or any other lawful purpose. I support the work of the NRA. I’m a member of the NRA. But do we line up on every issue? No, we don’t.
Were you aiming at his flip-flopping, or what? As a gun owner you surely agree with the last "quote" you had there.
The Lott article was written in 2008, meaning it was published before the current administration took office. If this information was indeed factual, it would appear in many different reputable news sources. Instead, all you have is one anti-Obama (which makes it suspect) source. When a variety of sources with a history of truth behind them publish the same thing, it gains credibility.
The unscientific reports I have seen during the past year indicate that there have been fewer attempts to restrict gun ownership in the past few years than there were during the Bush administration. I thought something worth starting a new thread would have some unbiased facts behind it. Guess not.
Are you saying that Obama did not tell Ms. Brady that they are working "under the radar"? I read that quote so many times and places that I just took it for granted that it happened. I just looked on Google and found that only right leaning blogs and newspapers have him recorded saying those words so I won't belabor you with quotes they have. Is there a chance that that many people used voice over information against The Won?
I've purchased several firearms in the last three years. No problem.
I guess you don't think that he ad his Sec. of State are supporting the UN Small Arms Treaty. Probably you don't think that signing that treaty would hand control of small arms over to the UN. I can't see it the way you do, though.
The fact that no gun control law has been passed doesn't mean a whole lot when he tells people they are working "under the radar" and pushing Fast and Furious as a part of that "under the radar" part. I really think the title of this thread says something about that "under the radar" thing not slowing down.
Same here. No issues. I might want to get another one in case Romney wins. Just in case.....
Is Romney working "under the radar" to get gun control? That seems to be a waste of time since he is not our President and The Won says they are working on it. Is there a chance that Obama tells people just what they want to hear. If so, maybe Romney is a politician, also.

Other than right-wing propagnada machines, prove to me that Obama is working "under the radar" towards gun control?
And who the heck is "The Won"?
I really don't get what the big deal about guns is anyway. Even if guns were illegal, there would be a massive black-market and tons of money to be made.
Good point. I think the recent sales surge is due to nothing more than price reductions. I recently bought an AR-15 for $589......it is a basic model from S&W but, for $589 I am fine with it. As far as him stopping the sales? Good luck. As you mentioned, try stopping the consumption and sales of guns is like trying to get a genie back in the bottle, the illegals back to South of the border, and some big breasted brunette showing up at my door in the next 5 minutes.....it just ain't gonna happen.......
If it did, we would just purchase them illegally. Better get ysed to weapons of all sorts being around and available for awhile, if not forever.....

Sure, they're supporting talks on the small arms treaty. The thing is, that treaty has precisely nothing to do with sales within the United States, nor can it, since SCOTUS already decided decades ago that international agreements cannot supersede the constitution.
This is nothing more than fear mongering, being done by lying about the treaty and what it would do.
One of the reasons I can no longer support the NRA - it has morphed into a paranoid organization that angrily rants about things that have no basis in reality. They count on their members being too lazy, dumb, and/or paranoid to find out what's actually going on.

The NRA has 4.3 million members out of a population exceeding 300 million. All the hoopla about the NRA's influence over gunowners is nonsense. As a percentage, few gun owners belong to the NRA, so that organization's influence is of little significance.
Most gun owners can see what is happening in this country, and most do not like what they see re: the economy and this administration. THAT is the reason gun ownership has skyrocketed. Gun sales are not driven by the NRA, but by the condition of our economy, fear of incresed criminal activity in back economic times, and a president who has shown strong anti-gun tendencies.
too many politicians equate the 2nd Amendment with hunting and other sporting uses. when in fact it has nothing to do with hunting at all, except for being good target practice.
the 2nd Amendment has always been about keeping the central goverment honest, away from tyranny, defending oneself and the state.
