This should especially go for politicians, who, BTW are paid by "We the People".

Pass or vote for a law that is unconstitutional.....GONE! (although, most of them wouldn't know the difference.)

Break grip of old boys' club on boardroom pay, says Cameron as he declares war on executive pay | Mail Online

FTSE 100 company bosses enjoyed a 49 per cent rise in salaries in the last financial year, while their companies only saw a 3 per cent rise in value.
Corporations can award compensation based upon the night of employees if they wish. The government has no more role in determining compensation of employees than they do in determining the Mets lineup.

I worked for Burroughs many years ago and was on a company "dial in and ask management" your questions session.

The question was asked "why are some of our executives getting such huge bonuses when the company is doing so bad?"

(I swear this is the truth)

One of the executives said "if we don't give them bonuses they will go work somewhere else"

Executive management think in action...

The CEO of our company makes a $906,000 salary. Two years after he came in (1998) he began using the 'Insider Trading' features that many companies now use. Every month he gives himself an 'award' of 25,000 shares of company stock and dumps it the next day (and stock usually takes an upturn to over $50 a share on those days). Nice system he has. Like clockwork.

I make $40,000 or so a year at the company (30 years). I get a $25 giftcard (good at ANY Walmart) at Christmas every year. And if I were to buy company stock at a discount, I have to sign forms that I will not sell it for 90 days.

Yeah it's a nice system for some.

Sweet.

For those in the trench's keeping a company going, not so sweet.

This is part of the discord between management and employees.

not directly, no.

but they should be clear about the corporate structure, and protecting the rights of shareholders. i think britain is correct to be questioning how much control and accountability the boards' should have over compensation.

I went through an anonymous 'company survey' once (twice actually). We (the crew) noticed the survey's were handed out in a specific 'order' and the questions had a strange 'typo' in the punctuation. (1 - or 4) and 9 >, you get the drift). They were collected in the same order as they were handed out. I mean come on, can they be that stupid? I went thru the motions of making check marks and writing answers on the paper without actually writing. I had to take the survey AGAIN!

Several employees were shuffled, booted or outright fired several months after.

So much for anonymous.

Canary tracking at it's finest.

this is the same argument that college administrators make. most colleges have an army of administrators making $100k plus per year, doing god knows what. You ask them to justify the salaries, they say, "they will go work somewhere else"

Kinda like a fat kid at a buffet when you tell him he can only go to the dessert table once and he comes back with ten plates filled.
