He also had a lot of complacent people who allowed it to happen, people like you who dismiss his unprecedented power grabs as normal.

Then why are they not doing it, I see no move by either the House or Senate in that direction?
Besides, what the Congress grants, as in these powers, they can also take away, so once again, I ask why it is a bad idea, since it would obviously help the Nation?

I started this thread and that is what he wants, I am no where near being a rightie. Am I for it, yes, the Nation is more important than politcal infighting, because we already see why that has gotten us.

The Congress does not want him to be able to shrink the government, because then they won't be able to accuse him of expanding it.

No. Obama has already shown that he is extremely irresponsible and should not be trusted with more power.

Merging Departments would decrease spending and thus decrease the debt in the long run, your arguement is illogical IMHO.

Do you even know what powers he is seeking? I doubt it.

Obama wants the type of reorganizational authority last held by a president when Ronald Reagan was in office. Obama's version would be a so-called consolidation authority allowing him to propose only mergers that promise to save money and shrink government. The deal would help Obama considerably by entitling him to an up-or-down vote from Congress in 90 days.

I think this is a good thing, pity he waited until NOW to try and do this. Election much?

President Obama is trying something new in politics, working during an election year. Most of the time government more or less shuts down until after the election has taken place.
