"Today the department is announcing that the final rule on preventive health services will ensure that women with health insurance coverage will have access to the full range of the Institute of Medicine’s recommended preventive services, including all FDA-approved forms of contraception ... Beginning August 1, 2012, most new and renewed health plans will be required to cover these services without cost sharing for women across the country."
Fresh from losing its claim that the federal government has jurisdiction over the hiring and firing of church employees, the Obama administration's war on religion - and specifically on the Catholic Church - pushes forward. Looks like they're trying to shut down the country's 585 Catholic hospitals.
"Dolan added, “To force American citizens to choose between violating their consciences and forgoing their healthcare is literally unconscionable. It is as much an attack on access to health care as on religious freedom. Historically this represents a challenge and a compromise of our religious liberty.”
"This is nothing less than a direct attack on religion and First Amendment rights,” said Franciscan Sister Jane Marie Klein, chairperson of the board at Franciscan Alliance, Inc., a system of 13 Catholic hospitals."

I am beginning to think this man is actually evil. Use to think he was just incompetent or simply had a different vision. But, as time goes on, I think he may, indeed, be evil.
Very misleading thread title. If the Catholic hospitals/clinics don't want to provide preventitave health care that has been deemed to also include birth control all they have to do is NOT take any federal funding - problem solved.
So any woman who's in search of birth control will continue to NOT go to Catholic facilities.

I hear you, doctrain. I try to assume that even liberals, God bless 'em, are capable of good intentions, but it's hard to imagine good intentions on Obama's part when he pulls stuff like this.

That's not how the HHS decision reads. Please elaborate.

Just like they always have.
Have to laugh at the feigned outrage on this thread.
