So i had a huge discussion with a few members of my family the other night.. I won't voice my opinion because it seems a lot of people disagree with me but I want to know what others perspective or opinions on this are..
do you truly think that marijuana is a gateway drug.. or a drug period?
It's a drug period.
Often it's laced with other drugs like pcp to give it more "oomph". And just like people wanting to party all night -- they have to counteract the effects of alcohol and pot with some ecstacy and meth.

With such reasoning, we could make the case that water is a gateway liquid to alcoholism. People must stop drinking all-together or risk mass inebriation.
Pot is nothing more than a gateway to twinkie abuse.

Often, do you smoke Marijuana? How in the blue hell are you supposed to have an educated opinion, if you know nothing about the factual basis of reality?
Look there is no way around it, marijuana is a gateway drug. You can pretend that it isn't but that's purely a matter of denial. The the argument that alcohol is a gateway drug doesn't exclude marijuana from being one as well.
Everyone has the right to be clueless I suppose. When it comes to GW, religion and gay genes all the zombies point to science, yet when science proves the gateway theory to be a myth, they ignore it. You can't invent these levels of double standards.

And you know this how? Reason I ask is I smoke weed and know quite a few others that do also . None of what you mentioned is close to true with anyone I know.
Police like to say marijuana has got to be a gateway drug, because they commonly find it with other illegal drugs in a raid. But they don't mention what else they find. Cigarettes? Alcohol? Aspirin? Oxycontin?
For some, Tylenol #3 can be considered a gateway drug. In my opinion, marijuana is only a gateway drug for those with a dependency issue. I have known plenty of people who have smoked pot for years, and never had the desire to even experiment with other drugs. If they have it, they have it. If they don't, it's no big deal. . . . life goes on without incident.
