This is a wonderful day for this state. I am so glad and appreciative that Governor Gregoire made this possible in the final months of her administration.
Of course, I expect the people with the petitions to start showing up at the entrance to Safeway but this will be one petition I won't be signing.
It was the right thing and I hope more states soon follow.
I read that the State only requires about 120,000 signatures to put a proposition on the Nov ballot. That seems like an awfully low threshold. I hope that wash. doesn't have the huge numbers of bible thumpers and turd world immigrants that calif has. Otherwise, you're in for yet another battle. But, congratulations on the accomplishment from your legislature and wise Governor.

I'm not going to lie to you - I am a little concerned about how this plays out. Right now, I am trying to just be happy that we have come this far.
I really can't predict what the voters will do if they get enough signatures for a referendum, and I'm sure there will be an onslaught of misleading ads by the idiots who insist that same sex couples can't use the term "marriage," but I certainly hope the voters of the state will do the right thing, if it comes to that.
Th federal government should never be allowed to say who can enter into what types of relationships. Hopefully states will continue to get on board allowing people to marry based on their own views, not the views of others.
They don't abide by the Constitution. Back to the question at hand:
Since when do liberals abide by the Constitution?
We don't, since when? At least liberals understand the Constitution. Since Social Conservatives are anti-education, they typically don't study law as so evident by their inability to know how it works.
I have no problem with this, the question I have, why is it "Crossing the party lines when a republican votes opposite, but not when a democrat does it?
Quote:
The packed public galleries burst into applause as the Senate passed the measure on a 28-21 vote after nearly an hour and a half of debate. Four Republicans crossed party lines and voted with majority Democrats for the measure. Three Democrats voted against it.

I actually agree with this statement. We need fewer issues decided at the federal level and more decided at the state and local level. That was the intention of the founders after all.

Please substantiate this claim. Just who "studies law" other than lawyers. Are all lawyers liberal?
That isn't what the op indicated. I'm getting mixed messages from liberals........again.
The thread title is wrong now, but will be right soon enough. The House, 56-42 Dem majority, is expected to pass the bill next week and the guv said she'd sign it.
