The screwed generation: Libertarian, not liberal - Salon.com

Less government. More liberty. Sounds good.

Social Democracies in Europe that do the exact opposite of what US Libertarians advise have:

a higher standard of living,

less unemployment,

more job security,

less corrupt,

more press freedoms.

rate as the happiest countries in the World.

better retirement benefits, more vacation, universal health care.

Libertarians want to kill those programs and shrink government.

When that happens, corporations will come in and increase their power and Americans will lose even more of their standard of living.

You've got to be extremely stupid to fall for Libertarian economic rhetoric.

"We are the generation that continues to pay into Social Security with every paycheck but suspects we may never see the benefits of it."

They "suspect" that they will not see their benefits because they've been brainwashed into thinking SS is unmanageable by right wing/libertarian rhetoric.

IN FACT, it's a well run program with a small long term deficit that could be easily corrected by raising taxes on the wealthy who can well afford it.

Umm, no thanks.

Get the government out of my life, my wallet and my bedroom.

Stop the reckless spending.
Stop the socialist redistribution of wealth.
Stop the endless wars.
Stop the endless welfare.
Stop the taxation of income.
Stop the meddling in the economy.
Stop the money printing press (Fed).
Stop groping me at the airports.
Stop expanding the government.

Let me live my life, the way I like, not the way the government likes. I am responsible for myself and my family, not the government.

Sounds good to me.

Yes yes, all spending to you is reckless, all progressive tax rates are "socialist", all taxation of income should stop and Government would end as we know it.

Libertarians never can point to any real world example of their "no tax" utopia springing to life after they've destroyed the Government.

It's just a radical, make believe fairy tale. [But corporations love their rhetoric because it weakens the power of citizens and increases corporate control of our lives]

Most Americans DON'T WANT the US to become another European social welfare state.

Whether a country is "happy" or "free" is subjective.

Not to mention those countries are much smaller in both area and population than the US is and are not major world powers like the US. Just because something is feasible in those countries does NOT mean it's feasible here. To compare the US to those countries is comparing apples and oranges.

No libertarians are advocating for no government. Government can exist within the confines allowed by the Constitution (ever read it?). See Article 1 Section 8. Taking a functionality away from the federal government doesn't mean that we will no longer get that service. That will come from the states and the private sector.

Why look for examples elsewhere when we have our own Constitution to abide by? US isn't Europe. It was never meant to be.

Most American libertarians are more concerned with property rights than with individual rights.

Call it the way I see it.

Actually almost all of them have a lower standard of living and greater limits on speech. You have to be extremely stupid to fall for liberal lies.
