To what? I have to scratch my head every time I heard statements like those? Why do you want to bring this country back to slavery and Jim Crow? Do you realize that this country was founded on principles that only benefited the elite? Women weren't allowed to vote. Blacks weren't considered humans.
It is usually always someone either wealthy, elitist, male, or white that says it.
So you're pretty much reading the code words right.

How about back to when it was legal for a citizen to simply pay cash for routine medical expenses? Back to when the government did not shut down factories because an employer built it in the wrong state? Back to when the free enterprise system, the font of our prosperity for two hundred years, was admired instead of castigated? Back to when the costs of regulation were compared to the benefits before being finalized? Back to when Congress passed a budget each year in accordance with the law and debated its priorities out in the open? Back to when the president refrained from singling out groups or individuals to be demonized simply because they disagree with him? Back to when the government acknowledged that there are limits to the power of government in a free society?
Seriously, these whiners that feel the country went somewhere or that someone "took" it from them are just afraid of progress. FYI, our society isn't going back to the Lawrence Welk era, the good ole dayz of Mitch Miller sing alongs are long gone. Get use to it.

can you go as far back as to let the Native American Indians have the life the once had....
What's so funny about this...The current group of morons that comprise the Talk-Radio Tea-Tard Republican party think the good ol' days is what we need to go back to. Yet the 'good ol' days' incomes were far more even across the board (you could be a janitor for 30yrs at a school and make a liveable wage and have a decent retirement), CEOs and the few dbags at the top made far less in proportion to the ones at the bottom, we had far more gov't spending on public programs that benefited everybody for the greater good....These people are so freakin' stupid they pine for the 'good ol' days' yet the 'good ol' days' were like everything they are saying they are against now!
They have not a clue about anything...They just listen to their talk-radiot overlords verbatim, and rinse/repeat!
