"The day President Obama was inaugurated, the average price of a gallon of gasoline was $1.84. Today that average is $3.52, a spike of just over 90 percent. The highest average price per gallon was in 2008 during the Bush administration, when it reached $3.81. One administration critic, Rory Cooper of the Heritage Foundation, suggests the present spike is unique. 'President Obama over the last three years has done everything in his power to cripple the increase in domestic supply and production. Clearly, world markets are taking a look at that and keeping prices high in response to American energy policy.'"

Obama's Popularity Could Take A Hit If Gas Prices Continue To Spike | Fox News

"White House spokesman Jay Carney said Obama wanted people to know he understands the impact higher gas prices can have on families struggling to make ends meet."

Obama team braces for higher gas prices

"Prices have a real-time impact on middle-class Americans and ultimately everybody feels it when there is an increase. We’re now at $3.51 a gallon, with speculation that it will go to $4.00 and maybe even $5.00 later this year. This is bad for everybody, and it’s very bad politically for President Obama. He has never made it plain that he is even against high gasoline prices. If he thinks they’re too high, I don’t know what his plan is to bring them down. It’s been very plain that he wants higher energy prices so Americans will use less of it."

Once again, with the chattering class, it's all about us and our cars. No mention of air travel. No mention of how high fuel prices also cause high food prices and high prices for other goods that have to be moved across the country. No mention of the impact to travel and tourism this summer.

I may be mistaken, but I believe the quote from Obama was, "under my plan, energy prices will necessarily skyrocket".
Obama supporters knew this going in.
With unemployment and underemployment being the way that it is, some will have to choose between work/finding work and food. It's a vicious, sad cycle that we are dealing with.

This is a direct result of the President pushing his personal agenda for green energy on the people rather than doing what is right for the country. He should be ashamed considering the fact that this is hurting people not only at the pump but with all the failures for his cronies at the green energy companies.

That's just campaign BS by floundering desperate Repugs.

Please show how Obama can control oil prices.....like everyone else in the world except for oil companies, he can't.

Last summer gas prices went up....the excuse by oil companies was that Americans WEREN'T USING enough so profits were lower and to get profits up prices had to go up.
Now, you can TRY to fight it but no matter WHO is President , he doesn't control gas prices.

It doesn't matter if the president controls the price or not. He gets the blame just like every other time the price rises. Funny how you swooners blamed Bush for it all but now somehow the great ONE gets off the hook.

As far as I know the Republicans control Big Oil and Big Oil controls the oil supply and refining capacity so they are deliberately restricting both to discredit this administration and collect even greater profits along ther way. Just another example of big business managing politics for their benefit and our cost.

Seriously? When the President objects to proposed pipelines, purposefully chooses to reduce our domestic supply, fails to use to the offshore leases and requires deepwater drilling, we are going to feel it! Combine that with a personal green energy agenda that has failed miserably and we are hurting big time.

Take some time to think about this, read more of the Celebrity-In-Chiefs policies too.
