Could it be any other newspaper but The New York Times? --no--

Quote:
The New York Times has declared down home Southern cooking undignified in a story that heaped praise on a new generation of Southern chefs while denigrating fried chicken, Cracker Barrel restaurants and the Queen of Southern Food — Paula Deen.
NYT: Southern Food is Undignified | FOX News & Commentary: Todd Starnes

Hipsters vs normal people:

In New York City, they eat boiled animal tongues. In the South we use our tongues for licking our fingers.

Southerners eat buttermilk biscuits and sip frosty glasses of sweet tea. New Yorkers nosh bagels and drink seltzer water.

New Yorkers eat fermented soy and tuna tartar – while folks in Tennessee eat fried catfish – with tarter sauce.

I've never understood food snobbery. It's all subjective and a matter of personal taste.

Project much?

There is no city in the south that can compare to New York on a food level. New York has everything, plain and simple. The southern food is pretty simplistic and kinda repetitive. You have BBQ and other related things. New York City has that and more. It has everything from all cultures around the world. You do not have such a city in the south.

This is the third thread that will result in a red vs blue state flame war regarding an issue and it was started by a southern.

Seriously southerners are you guys trying to compensate for something?

the south doesnt need to, but it sure does look like the north does, especially when they are trying to legislate something when all they have is their concrete jungles.

No food anywhere can compare to a New York style pizza, but that's my personal favorite.

Barring Charleston the Southern cities are essentially the same but with worse crime rates overall.

No, you started the thread to probably incite a flame war between states. Also I have relatives in Georgia and my dad hunts with people from Tennesse. You compare southern cuisine with that of NYC. NYC's food is so diverse, tasty and good you can't even compare the two.

Enjoy eating your deep fried whatever. I'll enjoy some delicious Halal or Kebab.

Totally agree (ex-NY here) and I'll add good Jewish style bagels as well.
