Irony isn't lost. In the last 30 plus years the gop has lead a "Starve the Beast" program of tax cuts without corresponding cuts in spending. Thirty years of us waiting for this promised trickle down.... Sadly, their policies have failed and now they have the gall to say their policy failure is because of the dems.

There is nowhere else to cut, this country is falling apart and their answer is to give more tax cuts to the wealthy and pay for them by raising taxes on the working poor.

It's about as smart as the guy down the street getting a new credit card to make payments on his maxed out card.
The money exist when this country made the wealthy(people and corporations) pay their fair share at the state and federal level. We could afford fix roads, pay police officers and teachers. People want 1950's and 60's prosperity well it did not come by this style off constantly gutting government.

In the 50 and 60's here in MI state college had 80% of their budgetcovered by the state, with other 20% coming for tuition and fees. Do think it made a big difference in the ability for middle class families to send their kid to college or a kid being able to work while going to school? I sure as hell do. I'm not that we should have aspending free for all, some should be put toward paying down the debt, I think things like NAFTA need go as well and we need divert some military spending back home. But doesn't undermine the fact that the wealthly are not paying their share.

See pattern here?

Do you all realize this is a dink town with 256 people?

Why in the hell do you need a city government for 256 people? That is freaking lame.

And they do have police protection: it's called the Auglaize County Sheriff's Department.

I guess "You don't have any money" is beyond your comprehension.

You don't have any money and you most certainly don't have any money to pay for your pipe dreams. Get used to both higher taxes and lots of budget cuts.

Uh, it's a podunk town with 256 people. Leave it to the LA Times to blow it out of proportion.

Greece is the word...

Because they drank the ******* "Everything is Free" flavored Kool-Aid.

Responsibly...

Oh, great, another person who doesn't understand that the tax code in the 1950s is nothing like it is now.

Have fun explaining this...Kennedy lowers the tax rate from 91% to 70% and changes IRS Tax Code and look what happened...

1960 $40,715 Million

1961 $41,338 Million
1962 $45,571 Million
1963 $47,588 Million
1964 $48,697 Million

1965 $48,792 Million
1966 $55,446 Million
1967 $61,526 Million
1968 $68,726 Million
1969 $87,249 Million

Good luck with that...
