"Is Obama going to declare martial law for the election?"
Well I have to admit that question is as idiotic as when some extremely idiotic members of the left proposed the same nonsense before the 2004 election. So I guess just goes to show that the left doesn't have an monopoly on stupid.
Well, to be fair, the question itself isn't stupid, but many of the responses are.
How happy I use to be when I didn't know our beloved country was populated by so many crazies and haters.
So true!!! It's mostly random people who sit and whine on computers though. I very very rarely hear people in real life make some of the whacko comments or worry about some of the random crap that people on here seem to.
Sometimes I have to remind myself that there's a pretty normal world out there full of rational people who understand what they need to focus on and what's just silly.

I don't think you're talking to enough people. I take it you live in Chicago?
I live in a pretty rural, pretty red-shaded area. This quackery comes out trivially while my bosses converse with various customers and clients. Everything from "That stupid Canadian in the white-house" to "God cured my cancer." People believe the craziest non-sense, so I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people held this view that the President is declaring martial-law on election day.

I know what you mean. I'll come back from a Lenten service or from having lunch with a group of friends (pretty well divided between liberals, conservatives, and middle of the road types) and marvel at the fact that not one single person suggested that the President is from Kenya or that he is secretly planning to overthrow the government or any of the other crazy things that seem to occupy the minds of some of these folks constantly. Silly us, we are able to enjoy one another's company and respect the opinions of others without foaming at the mouth or donning our tinfoil hats.
Other than FDR, how many of the previous Presidents had talked about the Constitution being in their way? How many of them, outside FDR, had tried to skirt Constitutional provisions for any reason?
Every one of them since the Louisiana Purchase, to be technical.
By signing the executive order the President has already initiated the first phase of martial law. FEMA has also announced the activation of FEMA Corps in conjunction with Citizen Corps Councils. Goto FEMA Emergency and Disaster Declaration and scroll down to the Disaster Declaration section and see the recent Major Disaster Declared ...
The President and act under the EO during "Peace Time" under national emergencies ... which is defined and declared by the President ... and can be economic, natural, and civil unrest ... all things that are currently in play.
Fail. Here we are two months before the election with none of the paranoid delusional stuff about martial law having come to be.
