"A Virginia middle school teacher recently forced his students to support President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign by conducting opposition research in class against the Republican presidential candidates. The 8th grade students, who attend Liberty Middle School in Fairfax County, were required to seek out the vulnerabilities of Republican presidential hopefuls and forward them to the Obama campaign. No similar assignment was given to research Obama’s history, identify his weaknesses or pass them along to the Republican candidates."
The a-hole teacher said he didn't REALLY want them to send it to the Obama campaign. Nooooooo, he just wanted them to find out the name of the office that would receive such information.

Why is it soooooo difficult for teachers to just teach? What is so freaking hard about keeping your political and personal ideology out of class, keeping your hands off our children, and keeping your pants on when around our children?
Bah. I think if she was actually balanced with it, it would have been a good exercise for a Civics class. Article said there were four groups, have it split 2 for democrat, 2 for republican. Or 1 democrat, 1 republican, and 2 independents.
Being one-sided, she broke the district's rules and will get justly disciplined.

Why would this teacher want to perpetuate the dirty, mud-slinging side of politics?
a better exercise would be to put all the names of the candidates into a hat, and let student draw one out, then find something positive about them to justify them being president.

When I was in school the teacher would ask our opinions regarding subjects like this. After the discussion by the students, he would present pros and cons from both sides and that would be it. The purpose of the lesson was to learn that there are different views for each subject and to make us aware of other opinions. No sides were taken!
Heaven forbid that teachers actually teach kids how to research and think.:roll eyes:
