The state employment department says roughly 4,400 federal employees in the state applied for unemployment during that time and the state is still working to calculate the total dollar amount that will be paid out to the furloughed workers.

A spokesperson for the employment department said federal employees won’t have to repay their state unemployment because there was never any guarantee furloughed workers would get back pay after the shutdown.

Shutdowns have consequences. If you don't want the consequences don't shut the government down.

That would only give Democrats an incentive to block the spending authorized by the House - government workers who support Democrats would be unreasonably rewarded financially.

The unemployment benefits should be repayable upon receipt of back pay.

You're fine with double-dipping. Duly noted.

I'm fine with applying for unemployment when out of work because a small group of radical extortionists are holding the government hostage. The rules are the rules after that.

You realize that both dems and repubs are government workers? You don't think furloughed republicans applied for unemployment?

If your state has a law that says otherwise, complain to your state.

It's amazing that Tea Party Republicans still don't understand the damage they've caused by demanding something that Americans have voted against. The republican echo chamber will be their end... no matter how many times you tell them, just still can't grasp it. They've lost the battle against Obamacare, yet they keep fighting against it on the same battleground that they've already lost on. They're like zombies, except with billionaires backing the fight against the middle class.

It's become pretty exasperating to see right-wingers complaining about the consequences of the shut down that they caused.

The post-PPD perimenopausal stenographer who disrupted the House shutdown vote draws more than $10000 a month. That's with 8 years service. Chew on that awhile.
Of course, my Tea Party RWNJ US Rep draws even more so things get fuzzy.
