Tennessee's Governor didn't sign the "Monkey Bill", but creationism will have a place in the classroom.
Each step forward for creationism is a step backward for science.

Darwinism is the only theory the left want taught but refuses to allow to actually be practiced.

"requires teachers to permit a discussion of alternative theories to evolution as well as other issues such as global warming."

No it's not. It flys in contradiction to every other lesson being taught in schools. There is zero empirical evidence for it, and therefore, no lesson plan can be taught beyond conjecture.

Has anyone proven where/how life originated?

Ridiculous, but easy enough to work around. When one of my students mentions religion, I just pop in PBS Evolution series segment with Ken Miller. That usually appeases them. Yes yes, there are Christians out there that are cool with evolution. Don't worry, God isn't going to smite you for learning the definition of allopatric speciation. All is well.

Must I really obtain a list of where creationism and observation diverge, or would you mind just Googling it?

Read the story - there would be no "lesson plan". The teacher cannot initiate or present a lecture about creationism. They have to allow a discussion if the subject is brought up.

This is a good thing. Alternate views should be encouraged - I find it very odd that anyone would want to suppress a climate of inquiry. High school students should learn to think critically - this can't happen if one is only exposed to one sided dogma (i.e. evolution).

Until you show your students how to create life in a tube or a puddle of muck out of inorganic matter there will always be a void for conjecture.
