little media coverage of obama signing new law making it legal for the cia to arrest people for exercising free speech. I guess that is why you are not hearing any critics screaming foul. the best part, obama was a constitutional law lawyer, so there is no doubt he understood the implications of his actions. It passed through congress without fuss. Does anyone else know more about it?
I think the OP only reads the headlines and doesn't bother to read what actually occurred...

“Signed into law: H.R. 347, the ‘Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011,’ which makes it a federal crime to enter or remain knowingly in any restricted area of the White House, the vice president’s official residence, or their respective grounds without lawful authority.”
Quote:
Whoever knowingly enters or remains in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority to do so; knowingly, and with intent to impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of government business or official functions, engages in disorderly or disruptive conduct in, or within such proximity to, any restricted building or grounds when, or so that, such conduct, in fact, impedes or disrupts the orderly conduct of government business or official functions; knowingly, and with the intent to impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of government business or official functions, obstructs or impedes ingress or egress to or from any restricted building or grounds; or knowingly engages in any act of physical violence against any person or property in any restricted building or grounds; attempts or conspires to do so, shall be punished.”
Another Brick Removed. HR 347 was recently signed into law by President Obama. This statute had wide support amongst both parties of Congress. In essence, it criminalizes disruptive behavior upon government grounds, at specially designated national events (Super Bowl, nominating conventions, etc.) and anywhere that Secret Service is protecting "any" person. Obviously, the goal of this law is to enhance the ability of the Secret Service to protect those persons it is charged to do so; but in extending this power, this law eviscerates the citizens' rights to assemble and petition under the First Amendment.
The president has had the authority to execute American Citizens- and our current president has executed an American citizen and his family- without trial or any kind of due process since W was in office.
The President, via Patriot Act regulations, can spy on you or your family without a warrant via wiretap and a variety of other measures. The FBI has admitted to spying on people for minor drug offenses under the guise of terrorism protection. This is all well documented.
Freedom sh** the bed a long, long time ago. Regulating speech isn't even something that should be a blip on your radar at this point.

So, he signs a bill passed by the Republican House and you give him all the credit? You must really love the man, eh?
