While there is something to this, I think you are missing the important fraud. Machine election fraud. The CEO of the Spanish company that will be counting votes in 2012 has major ties to Obama. NM the way the votes are being processed.

you can to get a bank account without id as long it is a non interest bearing account.
you can also enroll your children in school without any id at all, I did with my children when they were going to public schools.
if you have a non interest bearing account, then you can withdraw cash just fine.

Do you remember all those cases four years ago, when people would ask to vote and were told that their name already voted? Me neither.
There is no significant cases of voter fraud -- people voting for other people that ID's would prevent. There certainly isn't a case for throwing out the baby with the bath water -- disenfranchising millions of legitimate voters (elderly, disabled, and others without ID cards) to solve a nearly non-existent problem.
The reason the GOP is so in favor of these laws is apparent -- they want to keep traditional Democratic voters (elderly, students, the poor) from voting.

Vote counting is not a federal jurisdiction. Votes are counted by the states and local counties. The fact that the right-wingers buy into this nonsense alternate reality is telling for how nutty this wing of the GOP has become.
