Among the GOP base, there is constant harping about somebody else, some "other," who is deliberately, assiduously and with malice aforethought subverting the Good, the True and the Beautiful: Subversives. Commies. Socialists. Ragheads. Secular humanists. Blacks. ****. Feminazis. The list may change with the political needs of the moment, but they always seem to need a scapegoat to hate and fear.
We don't think there is malice aforethought. We don't think there is any thought.
My point was to indicate that everytime Liberals decide to have these idiotic gun control ideas and they fail as they have more than a few times, we all pay for it!

Yeah, because nobody from New England ever gave their 2¢ about Arizona's immigration law.
Ouch! Yeah, the profound idiots of the city council of Boston (including our boob of a mayor) decided to vote on a boycott of all Arizona business over this law. It failed to pass.
Meanwhile Rhode Island has had the exact same law on the books for years.

No, we don't. Useless and failing legislation is part of the governmental process. While I would live for legislators to only focus on important issues that will always pass, that is a pipe dream that will never occur.
I disagree with the legislation you have brought up that is four years old, but its up to the citizens of San Francisco to decide if it wasted their money.
For instance, the Ryan budget bill was doomed to fail, from the start. Was that also a waste of tax payer money? My guess is most republicans don't see it that way.
Cities have regulated guns since the founding of our nation. More or less restrictions is a valid process, regardless of which side you fall on.
Our system of government is based on failed legislation. It's called checks and balances. The voter has the ultimate decision, because they can decide what they want, and vote for representation that backs their position.
My problem is generally that, although I may agree with a legislator on one or two issues, they and I will vary wildly on others. You have to decide what is more important to you.
You can't simply say you are for less government, because a pro gun candidate is usually all for limiting personal choices in a plethora of other areas.
My first thought was that the OP was angry because his Preparation H was being taken away from him.
LOL
