agree with west of encino. not sure what people mean when they talk about freedom, but pretty sure the US has never really qualified as a free country. as countries go, it's alright i guess. has some good laws and dumb laws. same as anywhere else. it's a great place to make money however

I am going to open up a can of worms, but here goes. This is a question: Was this nation a free nation for ALL OF ITS CITIZENS at any one point in time??

Pretty much so. At one time, a portion of the population was enslaved. Is that free? I don't think so. At one time, alot of people were disenfranchised and couldn't vote. People had their land taken from them. People were taken and placed into internment camps under "security measures". Call that free? No way. I'm not saying that there aren't problems with the way the government has been running lately. I'm saying that we should all put this in perspective. This nation has never been truly free for all of its citizens.

How silly of me to be so naive. I just thought that when we are fighting wars to spread democracy and freedom to other nations we had procured it for a majority of our own population at home.

Guess Janice Joplin was right when she sang, “freedom’s just another word for nothing left to loose”.
