I'm sure this is just an aberration.

VIDEO: U.S. Army soldier brutally beaten in South Tampa | wtsp.com

Quote:
He's a U.S. Army soldier assigned to MacDill Air Force Base and lives not far from the base at Dale Mabry Hwy. and Interbay Blvd.

Police say Sunday morning, at around 3 a.m., the soldier's car broke down a few miles from home along Westshore Blvd.

The attack came when he was walking home and using Iowa St. to get from Westshore to Dale Mabry. At the intersection of Iowa and Renellie Dr., the man came into the view of a neighbor's motion-activated security camera.

A group of three young men is seen walking ahead of the soldier. Police say one of the men in the group doubled back and asked to soldier to borrow a dollar. When the soldier reached for his wallet, the first punch flew.

Looks like 3 of Obama's sons wearing Hoodies. Too bad the soldier was not armed.

OUCH! "My Three Sons Revisited!"

And too bad the media is not "armed with integrity". You will hear almost nothing about it nationally.

Well I've been to Tampa, and thats a pretty ugly area of town.

Working in downtown Detroit, you learn a few things.

1. Your wallet is not worth a fight

2. Only care minimum amounts of cash on you

3. There are certain streets you don't go down at 3 AM.

Life sucks, I'm sure somewhere a white person and kid committed a crime last night. Odds are for it.

Why is this news?

Oldest trick in the book- criminals will "test" you by asking for a favor. It could be a cigarette, a dollar, whatever. If you comply you are seen as "easy".

Best response is to say "No". Better response is saying "No" while drawing your 1911.

Its a pack of proto humans attacking prey that wandered into their territory. Nothing more.
Find out who they are and parachute them into Afghanistan.

You can't be this out of touch. Really?

They weren't interested in the money.

I didn't smoke anymore when I worked downtown Detroit, but I carried a pack of cigarettes on me to hand out when needed.

Most of the time, I found that if you gave them something, they left you alone.

The only time I was shot at, I was minding my own business and the guy was just trying to scare me. The two times I was assaulted (not physically hit, but things thrown at me, etc), were before I was confronted.

As I said, you learned to carry your money in your front pocket, and no more then a 20 dollar bill. If a gun or a knife is pulled, its not worth your life to fight back, just give them what they want, and they'll generally leave you alone.

My cousin is living in a VERY bad neighborhood in Memphis now, and her and her husband think they are "safe" because they are local to neighborhood. Stupid kids.

Some areas, and the one where this incident occurred in Tampa, are to be avoided by driving around them.
