Now I dislike the sap as much as the next guy, but I think you'd be safe in saying that no politician in Washington is interested in anything but their own personal gain.

shady as in Solyndra?

If you haven't noticed, this is not confined to Obama or to just one political party.

About damn time. One of the only good things Obama has done. Sick and tired of China getting away with their highly predatory trading practices including subsidizing and dumping on the US market killing off our key industries, solar panels included. To OP, you do realize China has tariffs on basically every manufactured import, right? So we are supposed to give them unfettered access to our markets while they put up barriers for our access to theirs...Right.

The only way American manufacturing companies are able to operate in the Chinese domestic market is by opening factories there and allowing the Chinese access to technology.

As far as I'm concerned any American who supports the status quo on China-US trade is a traitor and deserves to lose their livelihood.

The US already gives them unfettered access to our markets with their goods.
This is nothing more than cherry picking THIS particular import otherwise there would be tariffs on all imports from China.

All it will do in the long run is to hinder the move to solar. Many people were waiting for prices to come down to make it affordable to install. This will just serve to make the wait that much longer.

No matter the consequence this is still better than US solar panel manufacturers going out of business as a result of the Chinese illegally dumping solar panels. Do you have a better solution, or you just suggest we do nothing?
It is not realistic at this point to place a tariff on all Chinese imports, it's necessary to cherry pick key US industries.

Incidentally, China recently did the same thing to American cars.

Solar is not a key US industry. We lost that position to China a few years ago. Oh we'd like to to be, but we sat on our hands and did nothing.
China is also leading the way in wind production as well.

Our 2009 stimulus was supposed to be used for green industry and infrastructure renovation. It wasn't and we lost.
