I smoked for about 4 years, no brain damage, no prior incoherence. I smoked in HS, then smoked as a young adult for another year, then quit. I didn't 'sit around all day' and smoke it, I went to school and held a job. But once I moved away from the abuse in my household, I no longer needed to self-medicate.
I chose to start, and I chose to stop.
Still, I'm amazed at the denialists on this thread who don't understand the basic effects of cannabis.
Knowing what I do, experiencing what I (and others in my family) have, I can't say I support legalization, or at least not completely. Some people can handle it...others have major problems functioning while under the influence.
What do you think people here are denying? The problem is that people need to post a source of confirmation for their claims so that we know that they aren't assuming the effects of cannabis based on what they've heard. For instance, the memory loss issue. One could say that, but if others feel that there are studies that show that memory loss isn't an issue in everyone then they have the right to argue that.
It is widely considered to be accepted that cannabis can bring about SHORT-TERM memory issues, but once the user doesn't use anymore, the memory issue is gone.

Well ususally when people say it is harmless they are referring to the person doing the smoking. Also, I know of stories where mothers did similar things and they didn't even have to smoke the Mary Jane.
dope and booze do not improve your performance in life, they just make u feel better about it.
Not true at all.
Relaxing with a joint or a beer are quite healthful. They reduce stress and can definitely improve ones performance in life.
BTW, heart disease is the #1 killer in the USA, and stress is the #1 cause of heart disease. Reducing stress with alcohol or weed are quite healthy habits.

Kinda harsh there, playing with stereotypes can backfire. You have know idea what is in that gal's mind and assuming ALL young mothers are stupid is very stupid.
Yeah I never said that. But a 19 year old chick who leaves her baby on the roof of her car cause she's stoned probably is not all that intelligent, sorry.
