It's very big of you whenever you speak respectfully of the other 98.5% of humanity that is not like you. If you are fine with the way that you are and do not seek help, you will not find any true Christian trying to force you change.

You already have to right to engage in a public ceremony at at an alternative church of your choosing. But understand that Christians don't appreciate when some of you try to change the institution of marriage just to accommodate your selfish desire to receive more government benefits, with no regard for how any other person or thing is affected or harmed in the process.

As long as you get what YOU want, that is all that seems to matter.

Don't expect any thoughtful and intelligent person to respect that.

Not to mention that homosexuals spread filthy diseases at a much higher rate than heterosexuals.

But they don't care.

Since when has marriage been an exclusively Christian institution? How does a gay couple marrying harm anything? If two people are in love, more power to them. I'm not harmed by that, I'm happy for them.

Would you feel differently if you were prevented by law from marrying the person you love?

If you are talking about AIDS, you may want to check your data again. It is spread by heterosexuals at a far greater rate than by gays.

Actually there are a lot fewer than 99% that are not homosexual, and why should they seek help? Help for what?

So why don't you enumerate the number of ways same sex marriage will effect or harm others....I have yet to see any. In any case most Christians are now in favor of same sex marriage.

How would you feel if you were considered of less value that the rest of society?

You are in the minority, as most if not all intelligent and thoughtful people do understand and respect homosexuals fight for equal rights...It is mainly the people who don't think for themselves that just don't get it.

There is so much wrong with this post.
#1 - gays want to get married because they love each other, not just for government benefits.

#2 - Christians are always trying to change people and bring them to their religion because only their religion is the right one.

#3 - Thoughtful and intelligent people realize that people deserve to be treated equally no matter their religion, political beliefs or sexual preference.

You are correct. I went back and changed it to 98.5%. Even liberals agree with the estimate of 1.5%.

If you want to be technical it's not even a matter of how Christians define marriage, it's more about how this country defines marriage.

As far as your second point, should siblings be allowed to marry? What about mother-son or father-daughter? What about child pedophiles that want to marry a child? Couldn't you make the same argument for them?

Great points. I've never bought into the idea that just because two consenting adults agree on something, that makes it okay.

Bonnie and Clyde were two consenting adults. That doesn't make what they did okay.

LOL....There may be a lot more than you think... U.S. Adults Estimate That 25% of Americans Are Gay or Lesbian

Only those willing to identify can be counted. Not all GLB people identify as such and not all GLB persons are willing to admit their sexual identity, attraction or behavior on paper. Information gathered on surveys is only as accurate as the information given and the way the survey is conducted...Considering the extent that they are ostracized, can you blame them?
