People who swear in public have no respect for anyone,...including themselves.

Likewise, people who use profanity in public only exhibit their low level of intelligence and lack of grasp of the spoken language. In short, they are dullards.

I try to watch my mouth in public, at least when young people are around.

They must have a real problem to enact such a law but they can do what they want locally.

I am a sailor and in private can swear like one. I also have enough class to not do it in public. I can understand why a town might pass such a law. I disagree with it but understand it. I would prefer a law that allows me to kick a foul mouthed piece of human trash in the arse when they knowingly swear in front of my wife or a young child.
Yes, people say the nastiest things in public around little children with no regard. What do ya do? Foot in their azz comes to mind. Unfortunately they will learn all about their sick world around them eventually and all you can really do is lead by example.

Bah. That's nothing. Here at the beach, it'll cost you $250 per curse word. And yes, police officers sit outside the numerous bars in wait.

Also, we have these signs everywhere just so people don't forget.

This is Amerika, 2012.

I guess my mother brought me up wrong by telling me that the law didn't allow the kind of speech these people have tried to outlaw. I have always believed that the kind of speech they want to do away with is just what you say, although I have to admit that I have joined in more than once. Kind of like, it is the 21st century, get with it. I hear people say that all the time especially when I come down on them for talking like that.

Both of my wives had one serious rule for the household and that is that I was not to use that F word that so many use here.

Kinda reminds me of the old "spitting laws". As a kid, we used to see those signs and spit in the street on purpose to see if a cop would show up and fine us. We didn't understand the reasoning for spitting being against the law.
