Traumatic, yes I am sure of it, but less traumatic than being killed, raped, whatever by the armed intruder.

A 14-year-old Phoenix boy shot an intruder who broke into his home while brandishing a gun as the teenager watched his three younger siblings, police said.
If criminals have fear they won't do it. Obviously prison is not enough to make this criminal afraid to commit a crime. Kudos to the kid and the parents for teaching the child responsible gun use.
What's with this attitude that people should KILL others.
Guess what you have to live with then?
Ask any military member who has done so.
All actions affect our lives.
Wow, what an idiotic statement.
How do you thing the kid would feel if he stood by and watched his siblings get raped or murdered?
Maybe you could have talked the gun out of the guys hand, offered him an organic vegan meal, followed by a couple of bong hits. Yeah man, that would be cool.
Yeah, the comment of too bad he didn't kill the intruder is a real positive one.
Why is it that with gun nuts (not all are, but most on CD are) the murder is the real draw.
Ooooh, let's kill.
Let's harm.
Not let's do the minimum to protect... it's usually kill, kill, kill.
You live with that.
